Day 1 ZAGREB (Croatia) - Arrival
Arrive in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Transfer to your hotel and refresh. In the evening, attend a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, where you'll savor a traditional dish of Zagreb, "štrukli" - a rolled pastry with cottage cheese, and pair it with a glass of Graševina, a popular Croatian white wine from Slavonia.
DAY 2 ZAGREB
Begin your day with a guided tour of Zagreb, including the historic Upper Town and the bustling Dolac Market, where local vendors sell fresh produce. Here, a local chef will guide you through the market, picking out ingredients for a private cooking class. Learn how to make traditional dishes such as "sarma" (cabbage rolls) and "goulash". Enjoy your self-made lunch with a glass of Plavac Mali, a robust red wine from Dalmatia.
DAY 3: ISTRIA - Truffle Hunting and Wine Tasting
Travel to Istria, a region known for its gastronomic delights, particularly truffles. Embark on a truffle hunt in the Motovun forest with experienced guides and trained dogs. After the hunt, enjoy a truffle-themed lunch, with dishes like "fuži" (hand-rolled pasta) with truffles. In the afternoon, visit a local winery for a tasting of Malvasia Istriana, a native white grape variety, and learn about Istrian winemaking traditions.
DAY 4: ROVINJ - PULA
Explore the charming coastal towns of Rovinj and Pula, with their historic Roman architecture and vibrant fishing ports. In Rovinj, enjoy a seafood lunch at a local "konoba" (tavern), where you'll savor dishes like "brudet" (fish stew) and "grilled calamari". Pair your meal with a glass of Teran, a red wine typical of Istria. In Pula, visit the famous Roman amphitheater and sample local olive oils at a nearby olive grove.
DAY 5: ZADAR - PAG ISLAND
Head to Zadar, home to the Sea Organ and Sun Salutation, innovative installations that use the sea and the sun to create music and light shows. In Zadar, sample Maraschino, a unique cherry liqueur. Then, proceed to the island of Pag, famous for its salty cheese. Visit a local cheese producer, taste Pag cheese, and learn about its production. End your day with a wine tasting, savoring the local Pošip, a full-bodied white wine from Dalmatia.
DAY 6: PAG ISLAND - ŠIBENIK - TROGIR - SPLIT
After breakfast we'll journey to Šibenik, a charming coastal town. Here you'll be treated to a seafood lunch at one of the quaint taverns, or "konoba", where you can sample locally sourced dishes like "brudet" (a fish stew) and "buzara" (shellfish cooked in white wine, garlic, and olive oil) paired with an aromatic glass of the local white wine, Debit.
Next, we head to Trogir, another UNESCO-listed town, known for its beautifully preserved Romanesque and Renaissance architecture.
DAY 7: SPLIT
Split the second-largest city in Croatia, known for its vibrant waterfront and the historic Diocletian's Palace. Explore the local markets with a guide, tasting local specialties like "soparnik", a traditional pie filled with Swiss chard. For dinner, enjoy a "peka", a traditional Dalmatian dish of meat or octopus cooked under a bell-shaped lid, in a local konoba, paired with a glass of Crljenak, the original Zinfandel.
DAY 8: KORČULA ISLAND
Take a ferry to Korčula Island, known for its dense forests, vineyards, and olive groves. Attend a cooking class, learning to prepare "žrnovski makaruni", a homemade tubed pasta traditional to Korčula, served with a sauce of locally hunted game. Visit a local winery to taste the island's renowned Pošip and Grk white wines. Enjoy a scenic dinner at a seafront restaurant, sampling fresh seafood caught by local fishermen.
DAY 9: PELJEŠAC PENINSULA - STON - DUBROVNIK
On your way to Dubrovnik, stop at the Pelješac Peninsula, known for its excellent wines and seafood. Visit a local winery in Dingač, tasting the famous Plavac Mali red wine that grows on the steep southern slopes of the peninsula. Then, proceed to the town of Ston, famous for its ancient salt pans and oyster farms. Embark on a boat tour of the oyster beds, learning about the cultivation process, and enjoy a fresh oyster tasting right from the sea, paired with local white wine.
DAY 10: DUBROVNIK
Wake up in the "Pearl of the Adriatic", Dubrovnik. Enjoy a guided tour of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, walking along the city walls and exploring the historic monuments. For your farewell dinner, dine at one of Dubrovnik's renowned restaurants, trying the local specialty "rožata" (a flan-like dessert) and sampling local dessert wines like Prošek.
DAY 11: DUBROVNIK (departure)
After breakfast, transfer to Dubrovnik Airport for your departure flight. You'll leave with a wealth of culinary experiences and a deep appreciation for Croatia's rich gastronomic and wine culture.
