Walking with your ZagrebTours guide along  the streets of Zagreb and visiting handpicked museums for this tour, you will learn about history of Zagreb and you'll hear fascinating stories from the past and present life in Croatia.

We often say that Zagreb is a home to more than 60 different museums and art galleries. Our walk starts by taking our Funicular - the Old lady of Zagreb, to Gradec - the Upper town district which is one of two oldest settlements in the city. This area was always a home of different traders, merchants, craftsmen and noble families. Our first stop will be at Zagreb City museum, situated in the complex of the former St. Clare monastery. Stepping back in ancient times and Middle Ages we’ll discover all about Zagreb’s vivid past and the development of the city.

Walking along the cobbled stone streets of Old Zagreb, we will come to the Naïve Art Museum. Stepping into the fine art world of self-taught painters and sculptors, we will discover over 1,850 works of art and learn about one of the symbols of our country – Croatian naïve art.

We will also visit a Meštrović gallery – in a house which was once a family residence of Croatia’s most famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović.  His most famous works and legacy are known around Croatia (Gregory of Nin in Split, The Spring of Life in Zagreb…) and worldwide (The Bowman and The Spearman in Chicago, Victor monument in Belgrade…)

Walking across the Kaptol area and Zagreb Cathedral we are finishing our tour in the vivid area of Lower town where you will see some of Zagreb’s finest 19th Century architecture along the Ban Jelačić square and Green Horseshoe promenade.
