Northern Velebit National Park
Velebit is Croatian Olymp, the house of Gods, the mountain that causes pride, admiration, respect and beauty in every visitor. Compared with other mountains the greatest advantage of Velebit is preserved, unspoiled natural diversity. Because of its magical nature Velebit was included to the UNESCO list of Biosphere Reserves back in 1978.
On our way to Velebit we will visit the Sanctuary for young bears in Kuterevo village. This unique place is run by couple of enthusiastic bear lovers and volunteers from all over the world. They take care of young brown bears that have been separated from their mothers too early for independent life. After visiting the Croatian brown bears we will continue our journey towards the magical peaks of Velebit. While walking on the Premužic trail - masterpiece of architecture, you will discover beauty and amazing diversity of this unique mountain.
Enjoy the magical views on the Adriatic Sea and famous islands of Pag, Rab and Krk.

Velebit
Velebit is longest (145 km), but the altitude only the fourth mountain in Croatia. Velebitov Vaganski highest peak is 1757 m. The top of the mountain is provided along the Velebit Channel, Adriatic Sea, from Vratnik above Senja in the north to the canyon Zrmanja in the southeast. Within NP Northern Velebit is particularly strict protected reserve Hajducki Rozanski hips. The best known plant species are endemic Degenia (Degenia velebitica) from the family Brassicaceae, is shown on the reverse coin of 50 lipa. The mountain is located and the deepest Caves in Croatia: the three part "of Luke's caves.

This hike was beautiful!!!! It was so nice to be out in the fresh air and hike along the lime stone and see the ocean from the mountains. Velebit has heavenly scenery and is a different kind of beauty than most tours you'll find in Croatia. The tour guide was excellent and offered random facts about the hike as well as the culture and life style of Croatia - which was a great experience to learn from the locals. Thanks so much for a fun trip on the hike!!
