Day 1 VENICE – Welcome

Our Magical Tour starts in Venice, Italy. Your personal ZagrebTours guide will welcome you there and take you to your Hotel where you will spend the first two nights. Overnight in Venice.

Day 2 EXPLORING VENICE - THE QUEEN OF ADRIATIC

This morning we will explore this splendid city discovering its iconic sites and monuments. Created on a series of mud banks in a lagoon, with canals instead of roads, Venice can truly claim to be a unique place on Earth. You will soon feel the romance of Venice by visiting places like St. Mark's Square and the Basilica, the Dodges Palace or the Campanile. We will also enjoy its labyrinth of canals crossed by beautiful bridges, including the famous Bridge of Sighs and the Rialto Bridge. This afternoon is free for you to enjoy a little bit more in this beautiful and romantic city. Overnight in Venice.

Day 3 VERONA – The Story about Romeo & Juliet

We are leaving La Serenissima in the morning and heading further west into the Veneto region. On our way to Verona we will stop in Padua, an old University city famous for its Botanical Gardens which are protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Later in the day we are arriving to Verona where we'll immerse ourselves into the magic of Romeo and Juliet's city. Visiting places like Castelvecchio and the Arena, Piazza dei Signori, Juliet's house and other attractions of historic Verona we'll hear about their the tragic story about the true love. Overnight in Verona area.

Day 4 LAKE GARDA

Today we are treating you with a day trip to the special gem of Northern Italy – Lake Garda. There are many stories, true facts and legends about this place of extraordinary beauty, at the foot of the Alps. Charming little towns and villages along the lake on all sides that look like they are on the postcard will definitely give you the ultimate sense of La dolce vita. Places like Sirmione, Peschiera, Malcesine will offer you its own unique sites and a day to remember. In the evening, we are driving back to Verona for our last night there. Overnight in Verona area.

Day 5 VERONA – MODENA – FLORENCE

We are saying godbye to Romeo and Juliet today and slowly driving south towards the beautiful region of Tuscany. On our way to Florence, we'll visit Modena – an ancient Italian town, the seat of an archbishop and famous University city but also known as a birthplace of Enzo Ferrari and famous Ferrari cars.

In the afternoon we are arriving to Florence and after you check in into your hotel, you will have the rest of your evening at your leisure to enjoy and relax yourself in the beutifuly setting of this remarkable region.Overnight in Florence area – Chianti Region.

Day 6 EXPLORING FLORENCE

Today we are exploring the historic city of Florence, known as the birthplace of the Renaissance. This cities wealth of art, culture, and architectural monuments, showcases periods of rule by different religious families. The buildings of Brunelleschi and the paintings and sculptures of Botticelli and Michelangelo turned the city into one og the world's greatest artistic capitals. We will have a private tour of this maginificant city with our colleague local guide and have the opportunity to see and visit the The Academy Gallery, Point Vecchio, Brunelleschis' Duomo and much more.

After the tour, we invite you to wander through the streets of Florence and visit some more sights of "the Athens of the Middle Ages". In the evening your guide is driving you back to your hotel. Overnight in Florence area – Chianti Region.

Day 7 EXPLORING SIENA and SAN GIMINIANO

We are taking you for a day trip today, to discover two charming gems of Tuscany: Siena and San Giminiano. In Siena we will have time to stroll the cobblestone streets, visit the shops and markets and have lunch at one of the local Trattorias. This little town will charm you with the atmosphere within its' medieval walls and attempt to return you to the middle ages.
After ejoying Siena, we'll drive through some of the loveliest Tuscan countryside to visit hilltop town of San Giminiano. This town of Fine Towers „delle Belle Torri", once contained over 70 towers, some built for defense and some just to satisfy the ego of their wealthy owners. This UNESCO heritage town, from the 9th to the 14th Centuries, was once very important as a stop for pilgrims going to Rome and as a regional trade center. The village, with its' architectural heritage, narrow streets, Duomo, museums and Castle, gives you the feeling that you have been transported back in time. In the evening, we are driving back to your hotel. Overnight in Florence area – Chianti Region.

Day 8 EXPLORING CHIANTI REGION

Last two days were really special, but today we will sense the real feeling of true Tsucany. We will travel through the legendary Chianti region and explore amazing countryside, great little towns and villages, medieval castles and amazing panoramic views. Local people, great food and wine in places like Greve, Castellina, San Donato and many other will definitely make you fall in love with them. At the end of this truly amazing day we are driving back to your hotel for our last night there. Overnight in Florence area – Chianti Region.

Day 9 ON THE ROAD to CROATIA: FERRARA – ROVINJ

The time has come to slowly leave beautiful Tuscany and drive towards our beautiful Croatia. Today we are driving to Istrian peninsula across Northern Italy and Veneto Region. On our way to Rovinj, we will explore some more of Bella Italia and visit Ferrara – medieval Italian town famous for its renaissance centre and Castle Estense under UNESCO protection. We will also stop for a lunch in some nice rural household along the way. We'll end this day in Rovinj which is one of the most beautiful and most romantic coastal towns in Croatia. Overnight in Rovinj.

Day 10 THE COLORS OF ISTRIA: POREČ – GROŽNJAN – MOTOVUN

Today we are exploring the Istrian peninsul, the land of good wine and rich history - Croatian version of Tuscany or Provence. On our way to Poreč, we will discover the continental part of Istria – the green oasis with many hills, vineyards and quiet medieval towns like Groznjan and Motovun. In Poreč, the two thousand years old town on the blue coast of Adriatic, we are going to discover Euphrasius Basilica from the 6th century, with its magnificent Byzantine influenced mosaics and from the year 1997. included in the UNESCO's list of World Cultural Monument. Later in the afternoon, we are coming back to Rovinj where you can enjoy strolling along its narrow and cobblestone streets and see the unforgettable panorama of the old town with the bell tower rising above the church of St. Euphemia. Overnight in Rovinj.

Day 11 PLITVICE LAKES – THE LAND of WATER

Today, after breakfast and checking out of your hotel, we are heading to Plitvice Lakes National Park, a unique gem of world natural heritage. On the way to the park we will stop at Rastoke, the Millers Village, with its' streams, waterfalls, and old water mills. After we arrive to Plitvice Lakes, we'll spend the rest of the day exploring the amazing canyon of the Lower lakes and the Big Waterfall. Overnight in Plitvice Lakes area.

Day 12 AINCIENT CROATIA: TROGIR and SPLIT

This morning we'll continue exploring and enjoying the oldest and the biggest national park in Croatia, a world natural heritage site which is under the UNESCO protection since the 1979. This park with its' 16 unspoiled lakes, cascading waterfalls and lush vegetation, is one of the most beautiful nature parks in the whole World.

Enchanted with these unique landscapes, we travel to the South part of Croatia – Dalmatia region. On our way to Split we'll stop in Trogir, famous for its Romantic and Gothic old core, St. Lawrence Cathedral and Master sculptor Radovan's romanesque portal; all under UNESCO protection as a World heritage. Walking through the village streets and gazing at the stone walls and towers, takes you back to the time of the Grecian, Roman and Venetian cultures that founded and built this city. In the evening, we are arriving to Split for our first night there. Overnight in Split.

Day 13 SPLIT & TRIP to BRAČ ISLAND: STONE, SUN and OLIVES

After breakfast your guide will take you on a walking tour of Split, the second largest city in Croatia and a major port and gateway to Dalmatian Islands. The Roman emperor Diocletian built his palace here and the architecture of the settlements' buildings was influenced by the Byzantines, Venetians, Austrians, and Italians. The Palace as the main monument, under UNESCO protection, was built in the 4th century and is one of the largest and best preserved from the Roman world.

After this tour we are taking you for a trip to Brac Island – the island of stone, sun and olives. We will visit Bol and its famous Zlatni Rat beach and Pučišća, a small fismermans town famous for its stonemasonry school. In the evening we arrive back to Split and we invite you to take a walk through the heart of Split – the famous Split waterfront or Riva where you will feel the friendly and cozy atmosphere of this vibrant city. Overnight in Split.

Day 14 SOUTH OF THE BORDER: STON – PELJEŠAC PENINSULA – DUBROVNIK

After breakfast and checking out of your hotel, we head down the south part of the Dalmatian coastline to Dubrovnik – The pearl of the Adriatic. On the way we'll stop at the village of Ston, located at the beginning of the Peljesac Peninsula, where you will see the wonder of the 4 miles of 14th century walls, often called the "European Wall of China". The walls climb from the heart of the town to St.Michael's Mount and then descend back down to Mali Ston. The bastions, towers, and forts make this one of the largest and most interesting defensive structures in the world.
The Ston area and its shallow waters, is also known for great seafood especially oysters. You will have a chance to taste these delights at lunch before we continue south to Dubrovnik. In the evening, we will arrive to Dubrovnik and check into our Hotel. You can spend the rest of your evening getting the first impressions of Dubrovnik. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 15 EXPLORING DUBROVNIK – THE WALLED CITY

The great Bernard Shaw wrote "Those that seek paradise on earth, must come to Dubrovnik". After breakfast your guide will take you on a walking tour that showcases the beauty and history of this old town, one of the ten best medieval walled cities in the world. The beauty and uniqueness of its monuments and walls with their fortresses and bastions is bewitching.
Walking the Walls and wandering down the Stradum from the big fountain of Onofrio to the Square of the Loggia, or down the small and quieter cobblestone side street and alleys; visiting one of the many churches and museums or riding the cable car to Mt. Srđ for the expansive view, every experience will be par excellence. As this is our last night on this journey we are taking you for a farewell lunch in one of Dubrovnik's taverns. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 16 DUBROVNIK – Farewell

Today is the last day of our tour. Your guide will drive you to Dubrovnik Airport where you are expecting your flight back home. We wish you a safe journey and we hope that you truly enjoyed your Croatia & Italy tour and you'll have great memories of these days spent with us. Goodbye!

NP Plitvice Lakes

NP Plitvice Lakes

National Park Plitvice Lakes is a special geological and hydrological phenomenon. It consists of 16 lakes, which gradually blend into one another in a long series of more than 5000 m. The vast forest areas of exceptional natural beauty, lakes and waterfalls, flora and fauna, mountain air, contrasting colors of autumn or spring, forest trails and wooden bridges are protected by the UNESCO World Natural Heritage. According to legend the Plitvice lakes formed after the terrible long drought. People, animals and plants have yearned and prayed for a drop of water. Then in the valley appeared mysterious Black Queen with her magnificent retinue and mercy to the people. With strong wind and thunder rain came to the ground. It was raining so long and strong, until the water level has not grown enough to create lakes.

Rovinj

Rovinj

Rovinj is located on the west coast of the Istria peninsula and is one of the most beautiful destinations in the Adriatic. Rovinj was inhabited in the prehistoric period - the Bronze and Iron Age. At that time Histria tribe lived there and their culture flourished while they traded with the Greeks and Etruscans. Since the mysterious dawn (13th July 800) when miraculously sailed marble sarcophagus containing the body of St. Euphemia on the Rovinj coast, Rovinj has become associated with this martyr, whose church is nowadays a symbol of the city. In the 18th century the Church of St. Euphemia was built based on the designs of the Venetian architect Giovanni Dozzija. Rovinj is a city you will never forget.

Split

Split

Split is the heart of Dalmatia and the second largest city in Croatia. Split is also a big port, third on the Mediterranean by the number of passengers. The city center is the Palace of Diocletian built in the 4th century.This spectacular palace is the largest and best preserved late antique palace in the world. Legend says that Diocletian's Palace was never just a place to rest for the Emperor Diocletian, but also the facility for processing wool. In the 5th century, in the palace was allegedly poisoned last legitimate Western Roman Emperor Julius Nepos (Romulus Augustus) and the street in Split today bears his name.

 

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik (Ragusa) is a city on the south of Croatia and one of the most important historical and tourist centers. As other six Croatian destinations, Dubrovnik was also in 1979 included in UNESCO's World Heritage List. In the middle ages Dubrovnik was independent  Republic of Ragusa, the only city-state on the east coast of the Adriatic rival Venice. The beautiful city walls built from 13 to 17 century are a favorite spot for sightseeing and weddings. Be sure to visit the tower Minceta and Bokar, fortresses St. John and Revelin, Imperial fortress, the Prince's Palace, the Pile gate, the gate of Ploce, the cathedral and the church St. Blaise. Except for its cultural and historical sites, Dubrovnik is inexhaustible source of interesting stories. Tourists love it because it has more than 250 sunny days a year and beautiful preserved beaches.

 

Venice

Venice

Venice, the La Serenissima, "the most serene" is one of the few cities in the World that can truly be described as the unique one. This floating city is built on 118 small islands and over than 170 canals and more than 400 bridges. The city's 'main street' is the Grand Canal, which passes each of the six city districts.
Venice is the city of great history and fabulous monuments; a place where the spirit of the past runs under every bridge and awaits behind every corner.  Although it may be small, Venice offer a seemingly endless list of art venues, architectural masterpieces, cultural activities, and of course shopping and enjoying famous Italian food and wine.
